About Dr Ryden
Experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Dr Ryden
Nothing makes me happier as a therapist than witnessing the improvements in my clients' lives and relationships during the course of therapy. It's true privilege and honour to be part of their journey and to be entrusted with helping them make these changes.
Apart from the essential employment of evidence-based methods, what seems to bring about change and smiles in my sessions are the humble qualities of being genuinely interested and caring, compassionate, non-judgemental and accepting whatever issues are brought to me.
Qualifications and Registrations
I am a Doctor in Clinical Psychology, an associate Fellow and Chartered member of the British Psychological Society, founder of Psychogist Help, and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and AXA PPP Healthcare insurance.

In order to offer my clients the best support, I have spent my career studying, researching and practising what works in therapy at a variety of institutions, including the Royal Holloway University of London, University of Surrey, St Charles Hospital (London) and as an honorary tutor at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London.
Individual therapy & Mental health
I take a holistic view to all my work. Whether you come for individual or relationship therapy, I endeavour to consider all aspects of your unique qualities and situation that contribute to your well-being.
I have successfully treated a range of disorders and personal issues, such as depression, anger, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, OCD, Panic Disorder and a variety of other anxiety disorders, substance misuse and complex social and relationship issues.
My wide clinical experience includes working in the NHS and private practice in a variety of settings, including primary, secondary and tertiary care.
I have received post-doctoral training in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and a variety of other therapy methods and advanced psychological assessments.

Relationship & Couples therapy
Satisfaction with one's intimate relationship(-s) is generally considered to be the most important determinant of happiness and well-being. Strong and secure bonds with significant others are crucial to one's ability to manage and cope with the vicissitudes of life and have been found in research to be predictive of physical well-being and a long life.
Throughout my work career, I have found that the wider social dynamics and situtation are critical to achieve a successful outcome for both individual and couple interventions.
For these reasons, together with my interest in helping people with their individual psychological issues, I have also specialised in the forming and maintenance of healthy relationships.
I have undergone post-doctoral training in Professor Baucom's Cognitive-Behavioural Couples Therapy, Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focussed Therapy and the Gottman Method. These are the three most recognised and well-researched therapy programmes in the world. I've also studied and incorporated a range of other empirically supported relationship interventions in my practice.
